How long does K9 training take?
A guard dog programme takes 12 – 16 weeks. It runs in 4 stages: 4 weeks of obedience, 3 weeks of alert work, 4 – 7 weeks of guard and patrol work, and 2 weeks of handover with your family. Protection training adds weeks after guard work, for dogs over 18 months.
Which dog is best for security in Nepal?
In Kathmandu, owners choose German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Rottweiler, Doberman and Tibetan Mastiff for guard work. German Shepherd and Malinois suit patrol and protection. Rottweiler and Tibetan Mastiff suit a compound or a gate. We assess each dog on its nerve and drive. An assessment costs Rs 1,500.
Can a family dog be a guard dog?
Yes, if the assessment shows the dog has the nerve for the work. Guard training adds commands: bark on alert, quiet, hold, out. The dog keeps its obedience and lives with your children, guests and staff. At handover, we teach every adult in the house the commands.
Do you sell trained guard dogs?
Yes. We supply German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois and Rottweilers that finish obedience and guard training at our centre in Kapan before sale. Each dog comes with 2 weeks of handover at your home and a vaccine card. Prices depend on breed, age and training. Ask on WhatsApp for this month's dogs.
What is the difference between guard and protection training?
A guard dog protects a place: a house, a farm, a gate. It barks at strangers and holds the boundary. A protection dog protects a person. It stays with you, stops a threat on command and releases on “out”. Protection training follows guard training and needs a dog over 18 months.
Do you train dogs for companies and factories?
Yes. International Canine Solutions And Security Training Center, Reg. No. 326333/080/081, runs K9 work for businesses.
